Dear Reader

Thank you to all of you who have been writing in in support of the recent publicity we have been receiving. Health and wellbeing is a topic of increasing interest to many and a subject close to many peoples hearts.

Reminding ourselves of the activities we need to do on a regular basis to keep ourselves well can come in many forms - from a colleague, friend, an article or an inspirational moment.

In this issue:

  • Your Life's Journey - there's more to it than you think.
  • Tibetan Head Massage
  • Are You a Victim or Victor?

With Love

Personal Reflections

One of the areas I feel very strongly about is personal freedom and human rights. I think the potential of human beings can be so limited not only by our own thinking but by the society in which we live.

I was appalled by a recent story in the news about a muslim woman in Saudi Arabia who was gang raped and punished to a sentence of 90 lashes for violating law of segregation - she was in a car with an unrelated male. Because she went on to complain, the judge doubled her sentence and gave her 6 months imprisonment!

Women have many restrictions under Saudi law including: not being able to drive, maintain a strict dress codes, to have a man's permission to travel and have surgery. l find these laws positively mediaeval.

Having been bought up myself in such a restrictive environment with heavily enforced cultural rules, it has taken me considered inquiry and deep reflection to understand my own personal values and beliefs.

As an adult we have to meet and understand the do's and don'ts that are programmed into us from a very young age, that make us behave the way we do. You don't have to accept what you have been taught. You can change it but you have to understand why you believe the things you do in the first place. You need to question yourself right to the very core of your being.

It takes courage to challenge beliefs, courage to challenge dogma and it takes courage to change.

If you could write a book about your life how would the story go? Would it be a comedy, romance or thriller?

The Victim or Victor - Which One Are You?

Aviva BaranInspirational Life Coach, Aviva Baran shares her wisdom to keep us all engaged with our inner sparkle.

What is your attitude to demands, challenges or stressful life events? Check your thoughts and language.

Victim    Victor
I Can't   I won't
I choose not to
I don't want to
I decided not to
I Have To

I choose to
I will
I want to
I've decided to

I Don't Have Time To   That's not my highest priority
I'm going to do something else
If you notice yourself saying any of these you are in fact DIS-EMPOWERING yourself. You have chosen a VICTIM role for yourself.   Where as if you are really honest you may admit to the above statements! There is a different feel, a different energy. More EMPOWERING, yes?

What’s possible for me from this position?

Which Remedy?

There are so many good ones on the market but which one is the best to go for?

The Blues

If you've got the blues perhaps it may be due to lack of Omega 3's. Researchers have found that the Omega 6's were higher in depressed rats than that of normal rats.

There have been other studies carried out that have shown the benefits to taking more omega 3's in the diet. Dr Basant Puri consultant psychiatrist also talks about this in his book "The Natural Way to Beat Depression". He says that taking high EPA (part of the Omega 3 oils) can benefit mood as well as conditions such as PMS, bipolar disorder, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and ADD.

He particularly recommends taking high dose of EPA around 1g or more. You can only get this in good quality pharmaceutical grade fish oil and brands such as Veg EPA, MorEPA, Eskimo 3 or Arctic Omega.

If you're vegetarian then go for high grade flaxseed oil.
