Dear Reader
Did you make any resolutions? I think the beginning of the year is a natural punctuation for us to reflect on what's to come. Can "Lifestyle Design" have an impact on your health?. It's a term that's being talked about recently quite a lot and of the 100 of you who completed the survey last year many asked the magic fairy to bring a new lifestyle!
So I'm going to start blogging... and I'm going to challenge all of you to go for your dreams because as I heard Carolyn Myss say "Your Biology is your Biography". It doesn't just have to be big stuff like career change or relationship change. You can go for the smallest of things like having more friends or learning to dance. I've got plans too so I can share some first hand experiences with you. Read more in my reflections below.
Happy 2010.
With Love

Rumana's Reflections
My first achievement of 2010 came this month as I made the front page of the Newcastle Journal newspaper this month. Read here. Quite a spread, 2 full pages. For a business this kind of editorial is worth its weight in gold.
The magic of the outcome is a series of small steps. Having a clear idea of what it is you want helps. Then creating small actions to enabling that to happen. Yes heard it all before I hear you say but how many actually put this into action.
It can be something simple as arranging a dinner party. There are so many things to get together before you achieve the end goal - the food, guests, place, recipes, music, cleaning, table, chairs, menu, drinks, timing, who sits with who, what if's, energy and enthusiasm... eventually it all comes together.
You may think "yes that's easy but how do I apply it for something bigger like a life change or creating a lifestyle I want?". The principles are the same. You need to be absolutely clear about what it is you want, so define it thoroughly. Then it comes down to creativity. Your creativity. Writing down all the things you could possibly do and in as many ways as possible without writing off ideas initially, this is a good first step. Believe me there'll be many ways you will not have thought about which is why it's good to brainstorm with a friend or two.
I love travelling. Exploring the world, experiencing different cultures and finding out more about life. One of my challenges is that I want a long break, a long 4 to 6 week break (for now this seems long enough) without disrupting my business too much. How do I do it? It may seem easy, but for a workaholic and with as many projects on the go as a bowl full of cherries, it's not as easy as it seems! So I've started brainstorming - where, when, with who, how would it be possible. Sometimes the opportunities do not present themselves all at once but I'm on the lookout.
Think, write and then start to create. Trust in the process of creation - that's no mumbo jumbo woey woey statement, it really is to allow opportunities to come your way and to make the best of them as you go along. Believe me things will start to happen.
I've just discovered an opportunity to go away for 5 weeks and it looks as though it might be just what I'm looking for.... more in my next reflection.

Which Habit is Affecting You the Most?
Here are just 5...
- I drink a glass of wine every night after work to unwind
- I have to eat everything on my plate because that's what I was taught
- I rush through my lunch
- I keep saying I hate my body
- I have no motivation at all
Sometimes to put a new plan in place we need to look carefully at what behaviour has locked us into not being able to get results. If you want to lose weight, get healthy, quit smoking, cut down on drinking or just feel brighter then look at what's getting in the way.
If you do that habit every day then multiply that by 365 days of the year over 40 or more years of your life - you'll become quite an expert at that habit!
Decide to change that habit into something positive to help you towards your goal. Put an alternative (that helps not hinders you) in place and stick to it at least for one month until you do it without thinking. Then you'll know you've changed.

Next Month
Aviva Baran shares her wisdom to keep us all engaged with our inner sparkle.
“To be or not to be”...come a parent, that is the question!
Well, it’s finally happened I’ve become a mum at the ripe old age of 42! Thus, I haven’t featured in the newsletter for a few months as have otherwise been engaged.
Just wanted to connect with all of you who are thinking of becoming parents, those who are just about to turn into parents or those who have just become parents or anyone who wants to broaden their education!
101 things they don’t tell you in ante natal classes!
- Babies and routine - what’s that?!
- The idyllic image of breastfeeding - no one tells you about fungal infections, mastitis and abscesses.
- “Soak it all up”, “Drink it all in” people say “The time goes so quickly”? Are those people on the same planet as me?
Ok I think you got it, so I’m not going to disclose the other 98 in case it puts you off!! That was never my intention!
Why I am sharing this is to
- Help anyone seriously start thinking about support systems to communicate some of the realities of parenthood with likeminded others.
- Say that it all gets better! 16 weeks down the line, with the correct intervention, support and a bit of self care - I’ve come out the other side, with a big smile on my face every time I look at my little bundle of joy (and by the way it’s still not all a bed of roses!)
If anyone is considering, facing or in the throes of parenthood and would like a life coach to assist you manage this life changing event please email me on avivabaran@gmail.com.
