Recent research came out about the benefits of Vitamin B1 helping vascular problems with people with Diabetes. It's OK to take B vitamins but enhancing the digestive system is an added bonus to get more out of food. Take a look at the article below on how to improve digestion.

Personal Reflections

Feeling inspired helps me to be creative. I can never seem to force my creativity. I sometimes feel it like a process starting with the faintest of thoughts (wherever they may be created) and it taking some shape or form before getting bigger and bigger until I finally capture it. Sometimes I may play with it to mould it and reshape it further, like a potter shaping his pots.

As Aviva says in her article later that being relaxed helps creativity. I try and bring different ways of doing things into my work whenever I can. I started having meetings in interesting places with friends and colleagues - like meeting in a tea shop or going for a walk in a area of outstanding beauty and doing a walk and talk meeting. I was at Fountains Abbey with my coach and it was so relaxed and I felt I got my exercise for the day too!

Think about what you can do differently today, not only in your life but think about changing one thing for your health too. The cumulative effect over days then months can bring about profound changes.

Can Diet Alone Improve Your Digestion?

We know that some foods help to make us healthy while others do the opposite. Whilst we are also more aware than ever of what these foods are, the number of people suffering from digestive problems is increasing. Bloating, cramps, indigestion, rushing to the loo - it can all get very frustrating not knowing what to do other than pop a pill, which of course isn't the answer.

Focusing on a good diet will certainly help, but people's impressions of what constitutes a good diet varies. There are some foods which are essential to include...

A Raw Food Day with Susan Laing

Sunday 14th October 07, 10am-1pm in Leeds

This day is all about trying to inspire people who feel they may benefit from introducing raw food into their daily lives.  Raw food is known to give you that extra energy and increase your mental clarity amongst other benefits too if you continue eating live raw foods.

One of the greatest benefits is that it keeps you looking and feeling young...yes!  Due to all those enzymes made available to our body it actually reduces the ageing effect, especially on our skin.  You will notice a change almost immediately in your well being.  I promise.

The day is usually full of questions and turns out to be quite informal and most of all fun.

I start talking about the simple naturopathic benefits of raw food by describing things that go on at cellular level, so that it is all so easy to understand.

I then go onto talk and demonstrate on juicing, smoothies and sprouting.  And yes you get to have a taste of those too.  I like to work with the seasons so for autumn I might add some ingredients to enhance the warmth of raw food on an autumn day.

And don't worry because you will get handouts on all the recipes to get you started on raw foods.

After the demonstrations on raw food dishes we all get to have a sample of these mouth watering recipes at the end whereby you can help your selves to the buffet the best bit of course!

Call Susan to book your place on: 0113 242 6297 or email her on iridology@leedschiropody.co.uk

Blow the Lid Off The Box

Inspirational Life Coach, Aviva Baran shares her wisdom to keep us all engaged with our inner sparkle.

You've all heard of 'thinking out of the box', what about 'acting out of the box'?!

Creativity isn't all about art, poetry and becoming a writer. Creativity is about thinking about the world in more expansive ways. About imagining, experimenting, growing, loving what you do and having fun! Remember creativity flows when you're relaxed.

Remember these 3 concepts when solving problems creatively:

1. BREAK
a) Out of your comfort zones, your usual patterns; in order to create new paths that lead to new ideas.

2. MAKE
a) Mistakes
b) Use of your intuition to guide you
c) Connections that other people miss
d) Use of your self knowledge, i.e. if you know that you get your best ideas in the shower keep a notebook right outside the shower cubicle!

3. TAKE
a) Risks
b) The inquisitive route and
ci) Try different things, however small e.g. If you normally eat in the work canteen, try eating lunch under a tree and see how inspired you feel
cii) Ask yourself challenging questions, in order to get to the truth and overcome your objections
d) Opportunities to seek and exchange ideas with others, especially those who do not share your mindset!

ACTION - The difference between a dreamer and a doer is action!

Having a Life Coach can help you to develop your creativity and start thinking and acting out of the box!

Which Remedy?

There are so many good ones on the market but which one is the best to go for...?

I have been seeing a little girl in my Walk In Clinic who is sensitive to essential oils. Don't be too surprised there are many people who get irritated skin by using essential oil based products.

Essential oils are in a concentrated form and don't suit everyone. But finding products without essential oils in them can be quite a challenge, most 'natural' labelled products have essential oils in them.

If you have irritated skin I would avoid them. Aromatic waters are essential oils abstracted with a water content and therefore much gentler but there are not many companies who sell these. Avicenna is one and recently Nutri Centre are starting to stock some Aromatic Waters from a company call Innerscent. Take a look and if you start using them let me know how you get on.

(Some companies may provide discounts if you state referred by practitioner Rumana Zahn when purchasing).
