It seems like ages since I last wrote my last newsletter and so much has happened since. I have lots of exciting news to share with you.

Bad Hair Day?

First I want to talk about hair. I thought I would write about this as I have had a number of requests recently and also wanted to tell you my recent experience about this.

It is most alarming when we experience rapid hair loss. I was completely taken aback having just washed my hair I noticed a rather large clump had fallen out! I generally hear from patients the panic and urgency in their voice of "what can I do?" and here I was experiencing the same.
My first reflections were what on earth caused this. Knowing the general causes of excessive hair loss some of which include an illness or surgery, out of balance hormones, women who have had a baby and their hormones are stabilising, scalp infections, taking certain medications, heavy metal toxicity and poor nutrition. The list seems endless. However, I didn't seem to fit into any of the usual categories.

I realised that I had been doing quite a bit of decorating lately - painting mostly. It suddenly dawned on me that if hair can easily be affected by increased toxicity within the body surely it can also be affected by external environmental toxins? I can only say from observation in my case this probably was the cause but I wonder how many other people have also noticed this...?

So what do you do about hair loss?  There are lots of things you can do. Two recommendations are increase your mineral levels, through foods and juices and make your own herbal hair rinses. I often prescribe different herbs for different hair conditions and use decoctions of nettle, chamomile and/or mint which are easily available. All you need to do is simmer the herbs gently for 10 mins and there you have it your very own fresh herbal hair rinse. It works too. You can get loose herbs from Neal's Yard mail order.

Your Personal Compass for Life

In the last newsletter I introduced you to inspirational Life Coach, Aviva Baran. She will be making some valuable contributions within this newsletter and be sharing her wisdom to keep us all engaged with our inner sparkle.

Often we are not conscious of our values, of what drives us, guides us and influences how we make decisions. In becoming aware of, and thus choosing our values, we identify which aspects of our life are important to us. If we decide on choosing and living life in accordance with rich and positive values, then life becomes meaningful and real. Living through our values also brings internal strength and power and allows us to take charge of our lives. Values are in fact the treasures of our life, opening our hearts, bringing independence and freedom from external influences.

Identifying our unique values enable us to get in touch with who we really are and what our truth is. They act like a personal compass. We only feel truly satisfied when our decisions are aligned to our deepest values. Values are the things that we would stand up and fight for, the things that bring happiness and aliveness to our mind, body and soul.

Take advantage of a free initial consultation and explore and clarify your values. E-mail Aviva Baran on aviva@rumanahealth.com
