Dear All There is a lot of information about climate change in the media at the moment and personally I welcome it. If you think that it's way too big a topic for you to do anything about think again. Every little action helps. I was really inspired by Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient truth". I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it yet. I really liked his presentation - so well put across and some beautiful imagery of our planet. What an inspiring man. With Love
Personal Reflections What's your work place like for promoting health and wellbeing? If you work for yourself then how do you manage your work and health? I was recently asked to present to a North East Council who have just set up a Wellbeing at Work programme running a series of lunch time lectures. I was pleased with the turnout around 40 people attended out of their own time. Some would say only 40, others would say wow 40! To me, I see 40 people pro-actively taking consideration about their health. It's so easy to be passive. Passive is not being active, just going along and not particularly paying attention. Sometimes I become passive because I cannot be bothered. Thankfully I don't have many moments like this but how often do we make decisions that sometimes feel too hard to get off our backsides. How about not having any moments like this? Being conscious about your choice and actively choosing not to do something is not being passive, that's different. If I never made the decision to leave a full time regular paying job to set up my business you would not be reading this newsletter and I would never have known how great it is to fully embrace ones own destiny.

Do you Snap, Crackle or Pop? Walking around one of my favourite furniture stores the other day I watched how this electronic arm pushed down on this chair many times to show how strong the chair was and how it did not creak or break. Reflecting on our own wear and tear how much are you demanding from your body? Whether you place higher demands on yourself through sporting, lifting things, doing repetitive movements like stacking, bending or turning then you may find...

Spotted Dog If I was a dog I would without any shadow of doubt be called 'Spot'. I am COVERED in hives. They are on my arms, my belly, my backside and my thighs. It's a good job John has spent most of this week too sozzled to notice the skin on my body reads like a bloody Braille atlas!!!! I am so pleased it's January and this skin does not need to be exposed to the general public. Children would be afraid... mothers would run screaming to the doctor... television crews would report a new outbreak of leprosy in Northumberland!! In between... How Deep Can You Go?
I want to share my excitement with you about one of my clients, who I coached in quite an integrated and original way. On the surface, he appeared to be a successful, intelligent, humorous and positive man. However, in reality he could be hugely fearful, indecisive, has low self esteem, and was feeling unfulfilled in his job had not been in a relationship for 15 years. He was feeling despondent, frustrated and stuck. Coaching him to progress in the areas where he was feeling discontent was a long term process, with one step forward two steps back. He was in fact resisting changing the behaviours that weren't working. He was fearful to trust in himself and to take risks to step into unfamiliar territory. Many Life Coaches may have given up on him, or referred him to a therapist, as he wasn't showing adequate commitment to take positive action to make the changes, to get the results that he really desired. I made a decision not to give up on him, but to integrate my past experience as a therapist, with the unique methodology of 'Process Coaching' (Coach Training Institute). This is a creative and experiential technique to go into feelings and issues in a supportive yet sensitively challenging way. After 2 hours with this technique he felt liberated, empowered and committed to progressing in this way. We both feel confident that this integrated and creative journey of looking in depth at the obstacles that have been preventing him from moving forward will work to get forward movement and results. There are so many good ones on the market but which one is the best to go for... Sometimes the remedy is so close that we don't even notice it. Nettles (yes, the stinging nettle variety) also noticed as a weed, grow prolifically in Britain and are so filled with goodness you won't believe. Nettle is a remedy that can help many skin conditions particularly because of its cleansing action on the whole body. It also has marked anti-inflammatory properties, therefore those with joint problems such as arthritis may find significant benefits from taking 50g of the herb a day. Herbalist will also use nettle to treat allergenic conditions such as hayfever, asthma or itchy skin conditions. Nettles are packed with minerals they are an excellent source of calcium, magnesium and iron. It can be simply taken as a tea or available in capsules or tincuture form from many health food shops.
