Sitting in a hot tub looking out over the snowy hills with the sun going down was the experience which helped me recharge over the holidays. It was just what my spirit needed, 2 days of bliss. I found a gem of a place called The Orange Tree. A small B&B tucked away in the idyllic hills of the North York Moors, great food and great company. If you’re looking for a place then it comes highly recommended. Let them know I mentioned it! If you've started on or are planning your new year diet or detox, you can download a free article on detoxing, how to get the most out of it and how to make it work for you. Building
Immunity 1. Echinacea – is a wonderful immune stimulating herb. You can take it as a preventative or when in the full throes of a cold. It will help process the cold through your system quickly. You must make sure however that you get a good quality product if it really is going to work for you. Good quality Echinacea will tingle on the tongue – you can do a taste test yourself and see. Open the capsule and sprinkle on the tongue or place a few drops of tincture on the tongue. 2. Chilli – a cold needs to work out of the system and chillies will really help stimulate blood flow. Not only will you find this herb warming but it will help open up the sinuses and assist in sweating the sweating process. If you have it in the kitchen then take ½-1 tsp in some water or juice. You can take it 3 times a day if you can handle it! 3. Garlic – one of nature’s best antibiotics. It does work, so much so that a pharmaceutical company wanted to patent it! Garlic has many beneficial properties such as lowering cholesterol and improving blood pressure, but to keep its antibiotic properties you need to take it raw. If you really cannot bear to take it raw, go for kyolic garlic it’s a very good quality brand of garlic that is sensitively processed. Which

it’s the Only Thing in Life That’s Constant It’s 2006 already and another year has passed. I wonder if like me, you went through a process of evaluating where you are in your life now and where you’d really like to be, and then getting rather anxious about all the changes that would entail. So many people have great intentions ‘be this’, ‘to achieve that’, and write them down as New Years resolutions and then unfortunately are not hugely successful. Why is this so? Often because many of us are not clear about what results we are really looking for nor do we break the goals down into manageable steps. For others it is because they believe that they must ‘go it alone’. Ask any successful person how they reached their goals and you’ll find in the picture, a supportive partner, friend, coach, mother, mentor etc. and oodles of self belief. Self- belief is the master key to making real, profound permanent changes in our lives. Many of us desperately want to change certain areas of our lives. In fact, I’ve hired a life coach at times, got a mentor, found an unbiased, clear-thinking friend who can also challenge my thinking and when emotional issues were really holding me back, I have sought out a therapist. What is it you really want from life? And what is it that’s going to hold you back? Take advantage of a free initial consultation and e-mail Aviva on viv@artslink.co.za Walk
In Clinic It’s been a real experience for me to work with patients on a 10 min basis instead of a 1 hr full consultation. I don’t know how doctors do it but I guess 10 minutes is better than no minutes. Giving advice in those 10 minutes made me reflect on what could you do to benefit your health in 10 minutes? Perhaps put an action plan together – 5 key things you would like to achieve, booking onto a yoga/detox retreat, walk to work instead of drive, do 10 minutes of deep breathing techniques or have a relaxing bath. So much is possible if we think of small achievable steps. What’s
that Course If that sounds like hard work then a weekend away and having all the prep done and support around might suit you better. Look out for the first Yoga/Detox weekend in March. If that sounds just for you then book now. I hope you can make it. Coming
