Focus on Shape, Not Weight

Body ShapeJanuary is a milestone month for many of us focussing on new beginnings. What have you started on this month?

If wanting to lose weight or get fit is on your list, it is one of the biggest aspirations many of us have at this time of year. Feeling in shape is not just about the many health benefits it brings but it can also bring an incredible amount of self-esteem. Think of how you feel when someone comes up to you and says how good you look.

A good starting point is to make sure what you want is achievable. It’s better to monitor yourself a little at a time and that doesn’t mean weighing yourself on a daily basis. This can actually be quite detrimental. Some of my clients don’t even use scales. Some prefer just to go by their size, i.e. coming down a dress size or two, and others prefer to see their shape change. Beware of becoming too fixated on monitoring progress and giving yourself a hard time for not seeing change quickly.

Cutting back on fatty foods and doing more exercise is a good start on your weight loss plan, but does it work and is it long lasting for you? The experience of working with hundreds of clients who have got stuck or cannot lose weight using the conventional method of diet and fitness alone is not enough. This month I have just brought out an audio weight loss programme to describe some of the things that really need to be addressed if you want to lose weight and keep it off.

There are three essential areas to take into consideration: Food, Body and Habits. You will find it well worthwhile exploring each area, because when you delve into all three of these areas you’ll be able to work out what is getting in your way and sabotaging you losing weight. When you put your action plan together that incorporates all three of these areas, you immediately enhance the success of your weight loss.

Bear in mind that when you change your diet, going back to what you once had may take you back to where you started. This is why it is important that you get nto a healthy lifestyle-changing plan that works for you.

The whole purpose of your body weight, shape and size is to be healthy, to look good and feel good. Women, don’t compare yourselves to the wafer thin models, or likewise men to those macho protein filled body builders. Enjoy being yourself, in your body and loving who you are.
