Skin When you meet someone for the first time do you check out the person’s looks – their hair, eyes, skin, and nails - generally what they look like? OK, think about J-Lo or George Clooney! So after that thought, do you know what yours say about you? We give away far more than we realise. If you don’t consciously look, your subconscious may well be collecting information about a person including how well they look after themselves. I meet hundreds of people a week and how they look after themselves is very much reflected in the quality of their hair, skin and nails. If these form part of your image it’s not surprising that the question I am most frequently asked is how to go about improving them. Skin problems nearly always reflect an internal problem. I had a client visit me in the Walk In Clinic at the Nutri Centre, Tesco Newcastle asking what to apply topically to resolve a deep inset eczema problem on the scalp. He was looking for a single topical cream that would cure it. It has to be said that deep rooted skin problems are unlikely to be healed by using creams alone. Often they require an integrated programme including: a good diet, eliminating common food intolerances; taking a healthy oil blend to ensure that the skin is getting the right oils it needs and taking herbal blends to clean the body systems. For this gentleman I think the possibility of a ‘cure’ sounded worse than living with it. But if you want good health and good skin then finding the cause and eliminating it has to be part of the healing process. Another client who came to see me with skin problems was a student who wouldn’t wear tee-shirts because he was embarrassed about his spotty arms. He had suffered years with bad acne and had tried all that medicine had given him but nothing shifted it. In just a few months not only had his skin improved greatly but his whole image had a complete turn around. He enjoyed sports much more because he could wear tee-shirts and he started to feel much more confident in himself as a result. With summer on its way now is a good a time as any to start working on making the improvements you want. It does not take long to make the relevant changes - it only requires your motivation to do something about it and seek out the appropriate help you need. This doesn’t have to be expensive. The Health for Life Seminars is an initiative being run in Newcastle by a host of natural health experts in their fields. The core of the programme is to help individuals learn more about using different natural remedies in the home. For those of you who would like to do something more then you can join me on a health revitalisation retreat in Spain coming up in May.
