Ayurveda Treatments Ayurvedic treatments are deeply therapeutic easing away muscular tensions, helping to eliminate toxins and promote inner calm. They can have a profound effect on the body creating health inside and out. Ayurvedic treatments are personalised according to the body type. Some of the treatments are carried out as preparatory procedures for cleansing therapies or detoxifications. Treatment will include the following: 1) Oleation (oil massages): oleation therapy is excellent to enhance the effects of cleansing and detoxification. When oleation therapy is given, the oleation material reaches in the minute channels of the body and liquefies the accumulated waste material and brings it to the central systems like the stomach or intestine. Different kinds of oils are used for these massages. Duration of these massages is 30 min to 45 min depending the individual. Optional: 3) Basti (oil enemas); these are the oil enemas. 60 ml of sesame oil is used for this procedure. The oil in this procedure is suppose to stay in the body to oleate the intestine. This basti is recommended for anyone undertaking physical exertion everyday and those who are weak. This basti is also known as matra basti. It works as rejuvenator, immuno-promotor, nutrient, subdues elevated Vata dosha. The duration of this therapy is 15 to 20 min 4) Nasya (nasal medication): this can be given everyday to healthy individuals. It works as nutrient for the eyes, ears and nose and helps to eliminate toxin above the clavicular region, where toxins often accumulate. Nasal insufflation also promotes purification of the doshas, the three humors or constitutions in ayurveda (vata, pitta and kapha). |
